"The Exclusive"

It's also the SAC fetish's ALL-TIME Favorite!!!

There's probably one thing that all plus size women and their wardrobes have in common. Should I let you guess?
Yep, you're right; it's the predominance of black clothing. It's funny.
Somewhere along the way, we all seem to have bought into the idea that black is SLIMMING-
and into the further idea that we needed to be "slimmed" by our clothing.
It's an annoying concept for those of us who LIKE our curves.
(And who see the irony in skinny women "enhancing" curves after starving to be slender.)
Why can't we all just get along???

The purpose for this is to talk about our favorite topic: The Plus Size Little Black Dress.
There is one thing that we ALL need in our wardrobe, and that's the perfect little black dress. Why?
Because that one garment can take you from your daytime doldrums to your night-time fantasies within seconds-
and almost as simply as if your fairy godmother showed up with a pair of glass slippers and a pumpkin carriage!

First of all, make sure that you HAVE a few little black dresses on hand, and make sure they're stylish and in good condition.
Sometimes we wear them so often, that they've simply lost their pizzazz.
If you need one or two new ones, be BOLD and go for a lower neckline.
After all, you can always toss on a great long scarf/ shawl to create a more appropriate look for the office.
----------------------------------------

"This dress is too short... My arms are too bare... Where are the dresses I can wear?" These were my words as I lamented about not being able to find a suitable dress.
You grew increasingly frustrated, as this problem had become all too common for me and for many women who needed great dresses for upcoming social functions.
Luckily, we were listening and decided something should, and could be done.
Thus, "The Exclusive" was born.

Types of Necklines

Mandarin
Always elegant, this neckline style provides an exotic feel to your dress and just a bit of a collar.

Jewel
The classic choice follows the natural curve of the neck. This works well for accessorizing from jewels to scarves. It provides the most demure of necklines.

Bateau
This high neckline has little to no scoop, and falls just below the natural neck line. The gentle curve is flattering for most body types and can be casual, but comfortable.

Scoop
Soft and subtle, very slimming for the upper body, drop from neck is 6 1/2 inches. Drop can very slightly depending on size. This style accents the face and adds a touch of elegance.

Deep Scoop
A lower version of our scoop neckline, drop from neck is 8 1/4 inches. Drop can vary slightly depending on size.

Square
This neckline has a very pretty effect for most body types. The neckline frames the face and adds a current fashion re-visits. It falls 6 1/2 inches from the neck. Drop can very slightly depending on size. Back neckline is jewel.

Deep Square
A lower version of our square neckline, drop from neck is 8 1/4 inches. Drop can vary slightly depending on size.

V
This is the new classic with a 7 inch drop from the neck. Drop can vary slightly depending on size. This neckline looks good on most body types and provides coolness and a great place to show off jewelry pendants.

Low V
Sharp and sexy, this V drop is 9 inches from the neck. Drop can vary slightly depending on size. This neckline will probably show cleavage and is another great place to show off jewelry.

Types of Sleeves

Sleeveless
The sleeveless option is bare but not too bare. It gives a chance for coolness without exposing the entire shoulder area. It follows the natural arm curve with natural shoulder lines.

Cap
The cap gives a slight slant to a sleeve that covers the upper shoulder, providing coverage to the upper top of the arm but still being close to sleeveless.

Short
The short sleeve length varies by size in how long it is from the underarm seam. It covers the shoulder area, but not too much of the upper arm, and on average it falls 9 inches from the top of the shoulder.

Elbow
Elbow sleeves are 12-13" or so (depending on size) from the shoulder seam. Elbow-length sleeves come to the elbow on most people and cover the upper arm.

Three Quarter
This sleeve length is just below the elbow and on average falls 18 inches from the top of the shoulder. This style is great for those who like the "push up" look.

Long
Long sleeves are from the shoulder to wrist and on average falls 22-23 inches from the top of the shoulder. They are not too fitted, but add a slim silhouette to the total look of the dress as well as a touch of elegance. If possible, please provide the exact length you'd like when you place your order.

Bell
Bell sleeve, a long sleeve that is fitted from the shoulder to wrist and gently flared from wrist onward. The bell sleeve is very similar to the poet sleeve, but has a "cleaner look," often without ruffles.

Butterfly
Butterfly sleeve, a long sleeve with a very deep armhole, tapering towards the wrist. Also known as a "Magyar" sleeve.

Types of Lengths

Knee Length
This length is just under the knee, classic and very fashionable.

Mid Length
The mid length is mid calve, a very popular length.

Long
Our default long length is 39", fashionable and elegant for day or night.

Add-ons

Add-ons provide one more way to customize your dress, if desired. You can choose one add-on for your dress with additional charge.

Types of Fabrics

Cotton
Cotton is a natural cellulose fiber, obtained by a shrub.

Properties
:
A strong to very strong fiber, its strength increases when wet.
Cotton is inelastic. This is responsible for the wrinkling and the creasing of cotton garments.
This inelasticity also prevents fibers from returning to their original position, sometimes resulting in 'bagginess'.
Cotton has good moisture absorbency, so is a comfortable fiber to wear.
Cotton garments are drying cleanable and machine washable.

Linen
Linen is obtained from the flax plant, and therefore is a natural cellulose fibre.

Properties:
Flax is a very strong fiber. Its strength increases when wet.
The inelasticity of flax is responsible for the wrinkling of linen fabrics (i.e. Fibres don’t spring back into shape). When wet, flax becomes even more inelastic and wrinkles more readily, a point to be watched during laundering.

Ramie
Ramie comes from a plant with very similar qualities to the flax plant from which linen is produced. Ramie has a very similar appearance to that of linen; however it's a much coarser and stiffer fiber. Therefore ramie is usually found in heavier, stiffer types of clothes while linen can be produced in softer and draper fabrics. Ramie is drying cleanable.

Wool
Wool is obtained from the fleece of a sheep therefore is a natural protein fiber.

Properties:
Each fiber of wool is ‘crimped.' The finer the fiber the more crimps per centimeter. The crimp of the fibers is largely responsible for the warmth of woolen articles.
The prickle of wool is caused by fiber ends pressing against the skin. Finer wool fibers with a thinner cross-section have less of a prickle effect.
Wool is a weak fiber, becoming weaker when wet and more easily distorted, so wash and dry with care.
The elasticity of wool is very good; therefore woolen garments have good wrinkle recovery.
Wool is the most absorbent fiber in common use. Because of its excellent absorbency, woolen articles dry slowly.
Wool is a poor conductor of heat and a good insulator so is regarded as a warm fiber. It is best ironed slightly damp with a press cloth to more readily remove wrinkles.
(The press cloth will also help avoid shining the fabric)

Silk
Silk is produced by the silk moth larvae (or silk worm), therefore is classified as a natural protein fiber.

Properties:
Handle of silk is smooth to very smooth.
Silk is a strong fiber but looses strength when wet, so must be laundered delicately.
Only wash in cold or warm water as higher temperatures will yellow or dull silk garments.
Silk garments are drying cleanable.

Polyester
The raw materials from which polyester is made are manufactured; therefore polyester is classified as a man-made fiber. The materials used to make polyester are obtained from by-products of petrol manufacturing.

Properties:
Polyester is a strong to very strong fiber. When it’s wet, fibers do not alter in strength.
The elasticity of polyester fibers is good therefore making it very wrinkle resistant.
Polyester may be regarded as non-absorbent, so is not considered a comfortable fiber to wear in warm weather. Its non-absorbency also causes static electricity to develop.
Polyester is a poor conductor of heat, so garments may be hot and clammy to wear.
Polyester is drying cleanable.

Nylon (or Polyamide)
The raw materials from which nylon is manufactured are man-made, so nylon is classified as a man-made synthetic fiber. Nylon is obtained by-products of coal gas manufacture.

Properties:
Nylon is a strong to very strong fiber. When it’s wet, nylon loses strength.
The elasticity of nylon is very good so has good wrinkle recovery. (Although some lighter weight nylon fabrics may still have a tendency to wrinkle)
Nylon is not very absorbent so is essentially an uncomfortable fiber to wear, it is however quick drying.
Like polyester, nylon is a poor conductor of heat so garments may be hot and clammy to wear.
Nylon is drying cleanable.

Viscose (Rayon)
Viscose is defined as a man-made, regenerated cellulose fiber. That is, the raw material used for the manufacture of viscose is cellulose. (i.e. the raw material is from a plant, but the fiber itself is man-made.) During the manufacturing process, the cellulose is chemically modified into a liquid form, and then reformed into a fiber.

Properties:
Viscose has a fair strength but loses strength when wet, so care must be taken in laundering. Severe wringing should be avoided.
Viscose generally has a smooth, lustrous handle and quite good drape.
Viscose fibers are inelastic which accounts for it readily wrinkling, especially when wet.
It is a very absorbent fiber making it comfortable to wear.
Viscose is drying cleanable.

NB: Viscose is also known as rayon.
